Before the asphalt application, it is necessary to increase the resistance strength of the existing ground against problems such as collapse, breakage and cavitation, and to eliminate internal stresses, if any. Only before the hot asphalt application, mechanical material may be laid on the ground in order to achieve this. This layer to be laid before asphalt application should be suitable for compaction. Considering the results of the 15-day screen analysis, the mixing ratios are determined according to the pass percentages. The mechanical material layer should not contain foreign materials such as clay and silt. Robust and clean aggregate should be used. This process, together with the strengthening, will also eliminate the cavities and even roughs on the ground. Asphalt material will not be used to fill these cavities and savings will be achieved. Therefore, it will provide a great benefit in terms of total cost.
